Balban’s Tomb is the tomb of the Turk ruler Ghiyas -ud -din Balban. He declared himself sultan after the death of Ala-ud -din khilji. He ruled Delhi as sultanate from (1200-1287). He was a very powerful and esteemed ruler of that era. This building is located in Qutub Minar complex in Mehrauli. The ruins are self -evident with high walls and arches. History:
Ghiyas-ud-din Balban was the most prominent Emperor of the Slave Dynasty. The Islamic dome and arch made its first appearance with this tomb in India but unfortunately the dome has deteriorated with the passage of time, making Alai -Darwaza built by Ala-ud-din khilji the earliest surviving dome.Made of rubble Masonry the construction is done in Indo-Islamic architecture style.
