Quwwat-ul -Islam was the first Mosque in India built by Qutub-ud-din-Aibak in 1191. He crowned himself as sultan of Delhi and established the slave Dynasty. In the yard of the Mosque stand Iron Pillars, inscription on the pillar informs that it was constructed as a flagstaff to pay respect to Lord Vishnu and in remembrance of the Gupta king, Chandragupta II.
