Kartavya Path

Rajpath is now officially called Kartavya Path. In the early 20th Century the British named the road which runs from Rashtrapati Bhavan on Raisina Hills through India Gate to National Stadium as Rajpath. Rajpath means “kings way” in English. Rajpath sounds as ruling over others. A request was made for renaming of Rajpath. After the redesigning of Central Vista Avenue for nineteen months the road from Netaji Statue to the Rashtrapati Bhavan is currently called “Kartavya Path”. Kartavya means duties towards Nation, family, without discrimination.
