Bijay Mandal

Bijay Mandal is a small fortress located in South Delhi, near the Qutub Minar complex. It was built during the Lodhi Dynasty, in the late 15th century, and was later used by the Mughals as a hunting lodge. The name “Bijai Mandal” means “Victory Palace” in Hindi. The fortress is made of red sandstone and has a rectangular shape, with a central courtyard surrounded by rooms and chambers. The fortress also has a few small water tanks and a well.

There are many legends and stories associated with Bijai Mandal. One popular legend is that the Mughal Emperor Humayun was reading his beloved book, the Mahabharata, under a tree near Bijai Mandal when he was attacked and killed by a rogue elephant.

Today, Bijai Mandal is not open to the public and is in a state of disrepair. However, it remains an important historical landmark and is a reminder of Delhi’s rich cultural heritage.
